About the District

The John Day / Canyon City Parks and Recreation District is a special district, established by the voters of John Day and Canyon City with the purpose managing Gleason Pool and providing park services and recreation opportunities to the residents living within the District boundary. Upon becoming a special district in 1989, the District became a separate entity from the cities of John Day and Canyon City. Since that time, the District has been working diligently to foster a healthy and enriched way of life for our community.

Our Mission

To enhance the quality of life for the residents of our community by providing safe and well-maintained parks and offering recreational opportunities for people of all ages.

Our Community

The District serves the greater John Day and Canyon City community.

What We Do

The District offers a variety of recreation opportunities including youth and adult  sports and events. The District manages 23 acres of park space.
